LOS ANGELES, CA — In a shocking development that’s rocked the late ’90s nostalgia-industrial complex, actor and rapper Will Smith has officially refused to perform his iconic hit “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” after his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, declared the song “always sounded kind of stupid.”
According to sources close to the couple, the argument began innocently enough over dinner when Will playfully hummed the tune, only for Jada to put down her fork and ask, “Do people still say ‘jiggy’? Or was that just something your ego cooked up with a rhyming dictionary in ’97?”
Witnesses say Will paused, visibly hurt, then quietly excused himself to go reevaluate his entire music catalog.
“It’s like she slapped me, emotionally,” Will reportedly told friends. “I mean, I slapped Chris Rock for less.”
Fans are devastated, with one TikTok user posting, “What’s next? No more ‘Miami’? Is nothing sacred?!”
Jada doubled down in a Red Table Talk segment titled “The Death of Jiggy,” where she explained, “I support Will’s artistic journey, but at some point, we all need to move past the shiny suits and nonsense words.”
As of press time, Will has replaced “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” in his live setlist with an acoustic version of “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” which Jada reportedly called “marginally less embarrassing.”
Na-na-na-na-na-na, indeed.
